Since I've proven what an exceptionally faulty crystal ball I am, I don't often mention or forecast trends. But even I, clueless of beauty junkies, walker into walls and noobiest of nails, have noted a slight resurgence in the love of matte and now Maybelline has put their hat in the game with their Creamy Matte Lipsticks.

And all the better! Nothing quite like a matte lip to give an extra something something and a little bit of edge. But there's also nothing quite like trying a matte lip and realizing those flakes on your lips aren't from leftover breakfast cereal (how messy an eater are you?!) and as your lips continue to dry and peel during the day, you wonder if beauty and fashion are ever worth it (yes they are...).

Maybelline's Creamy Matte Lipsticks are exactly as named. Creamy and slidey upon application, they feel like a regular lipstick with a soft cream matte finish. In my books, this isn't a true matte, there's a bit of satin here that can't be avoided with a formula quite this creamy.

Daringly Nude is a nice pink nude while Siren in Scarlet is a bright blue-based red. Daringly Nude settled into lines and was slighty patchy when applying. I can see it clinging onto lip bits while Siren in Scarlet performed better. My lips did not get dry from either of these and they both leave a slight stain with Siren in Scarlet leaving more.

If you are a fan of silicone-slippy-sliddy lipsticks and hate hard-stiff-waxy lip options, you will be a fan of these mattes. If you aren't a fan of matte but wanted to ease yourself in, these are a potential option. When it comes to mattes, I'm more of a waxy-stiff-lipstick sort of girl but I will admit that these creamy versions are easier on the lips and aren't as drying as some other mattes I've tried but they also don't quite give me that straight up bad-ass matte that I prefer. My recommendation for this will depend on the type of matte that you like and are looking for.

What type of matte girl are you?
