Picks from Mary Kay's Holiday Releases*

*Press samples

Alright, another round of Mary Kay* release for this winter and the upcoming holiday season. Here are my picks for what's worth getting with a few surprises.

The Mary Kay At Play Hail to the Nails Mini Lacquer Trio ($18CDN) has three nail mini nail shades in a matte fuchsia, navy and a glittery silver polish. The brushes are quite good and the colors go on well after two coats. Not an amazing formula but nothing too awful either. The colors don't really speak "holiday" to me. I would get this if you wanted the colors at a decent price but otherwise, meh.

The Limited Edition Winter Wishes Fragrance Wand ($25CDN) smells very much like Bath and Body Work's Amber Blush. This plastic rollerball comes in a cute Christmas tree ornament appropriate cardboard package but at the price, I'd rather the bottle be glass. Because you can get more for less from Bath and Body works, I would pass on this option.

The Limited Edition Winter Wishes Gift Set ($27CDN) contain the Shimmeriffic Shower Gel and Body Lotion. The lotion is indeed shimmery. You get some nice fine and dispersed glittering of the body with this in a perfumed lotion. Actually I didn't dislike this as much as I thought I would. I think its sort of fun actually! And I'd like to use it when I'm going to fancy party for a bit of something extra. The glitter is subtle and it washes completely off with soap.

I'm trying to show the glitter but its not very obvious on film.

The Limited Edition Pomegranate Satin Hands Pampering Set ($51 CDN). I wish this wasn't so expensive. I disregarded this pampering set when I received the Melon version last time but this stuff actually works. My hands are instantly more smooth and hydrated and I genuinely like the Satin Hands hand lotion formula. It dries down SUPER fast and I'm making my way through a bottle now.

Overall:
I sort of wish the prices were better on these but I would gift the Pampering Set to anyone who uses their hands often. This would be a great gift for nurses, construction workers...anyone who has rough hands in need of some TLC or even for us everyday Jane's who want to give our hands some extra love.

The Winter Wishes set is a far second only because of the price. The idea of a shimmer lotion is neat and this one is not crazy glittery and more sophisticated than I expected but...not convinced its a necessity for that price.

What do you think? About Mary Kay? About shimmer lotions?
