Dior Powder Eyebrow*

When I bought my first concealer, I also bought my first eyebrow pencil and that was more than 2 years ago. The Make Up For Ever Eye Brow Pencil in #4 has lasted me an amazingly long time. I didn't know much about brow but slowly I've morphed into someone who feels just slightly weird about 'not having my brows on'. It has been a slow creep. So slow in fact that I've still literally using the very same and first MUFE pencil even though I use it nearly everyday.

I have no idea how the MUFE pencil has lasted this long. Most likely my thick brow hairs and laziness in sharpening had contributed to its longevity. But the pencil is coming into its golden years and I only have a couple months, maybe one, left of it. I would have gone and repurchased the same product again but Dior sent along their recently released Powder Eyebrow Pencils* ($33 CDN, 1.2g) and I was able to give a new formula a try.

The pencils are supposed to combine the definition of wax with a powder finish and comes with a spoolie to help groom your brow hairs. The finish is indeed powder and its not quite water proof. The pigmentation comes off the pencil quite easily so using the spoolie to brush out the color is necessary. Even with a light hand, I seem to get heavy lines but my brows look more natural after rubbing it out a little.

The MUFE pencil is also not waterproof but its seems to have a bit more wax and isn't so strongly pigmented. This makes building color easier. I get strong lines from the Dior pencil even with light strokes and I prefer being able to build up my brow lightly instead. There is such a thing as having over defined brows, even if you don't believe it.

The color that seems to match the best with the MUFE #4 is 693 Dark Brown. Soft Brown is a little more red and less taupe. Black is a little too dark and bold.

I have a problem where, for some staple products, I just want to keep using the same thing if it works. This makes me less inclined to love the Dior Powder Eyebrow but it does do the job and I probably would have the same feelings for the Dior as I do for the MUFE if I had started off with the Dior first.
I like MUFE's ability to be built up more gradually and the immediate pigmentation of the Dior product scares me only because  strong brows makes me feel too 'made up'. From the photo though, its hardly a bad look and the product easily brushes out if you were heavy handed. A pretty solid brow product but nothing worth switching for if you already love what you've got.

What do you use for your brows?
