Estee Lauder Daywear BB Anti-Oxidant Beauty Benefit Cream SPF35 review

The Estee Lauder Daywear BB Anti-Oxidant Beauty Benefit Cream SPF35 ($40, 30ml, longest name ever) is supposed to protect, perfect, tint and moisturize the skin. It's formulated to help control excess surface oil and to offer hydration while providing anti-oxidant protection.

Color and Coverage
The BB Cream in the shade Light is just right for my current winter skintone and might work up to early summer. It doesn't leave a grey cast and is neutral toned but leans just the slightest pink (but hardly enough for yellow-toned girls, like myself, to want to avoid it). This will work for both warm and cool toned, light (not super pale) to light-medium girls.

The consistency is like a traditional Asian BB Cream. It's thick, offers light-medium coverage right away and builds up to a good medium coverage if layered. It might give you full but after a thick layer, this really just sits on your face, and I would hesitate to build it up more. The finish is definitely not matte, nor is it dewy. There's a slight luminosity though so let's go with satin or semi-matte. My skin texture and color looks smoothed and evened.

Application

You must use a brush with this product! When smoothed on with the fingers, it sits over the skin and doesn't blend well. I need to really work and blend it in even when using my RT Expert Face Brush. It take a while to set and I would suggest topping this with powder. If you do use powder, stipple it on and don't drag your brush or sponge across your face. This disrupts the BB cream and you'll get splotchiness in certain areas where makeup has built up. For those who care about scent, it does have a sunscreen type smell to it.

Wear
This reminds me of how the Revlon Colorstay Whipped feels on the skin. You can feel it even though it's supposed to be light weight. Through the course of the day, it offers good oil control. I haven't been any oilier with this product and oil seems to take slightly longer to form than with other foundations. Even after a few hours, I can still feel the creaminess of the product on my skin. Even with powder, this never really sinks in or truly truly sets. But as the day progresses, it also doesn't break down that much on my face but I can see it pool slightly near where the nose pads of my glasses are. In general it wears quite nicely till the end of the work day.

Overall
My first foray into Estee Lauder's BB's was interesting. Fans of Revlon's Whipped Colorstay, or Asian BB Creams, will be used to this type of cream formula and will be familiar with how this will sit on your skin. For those who want something truly light weight, this will not be it. I like the finish, I like the oil control, and I like that the color suits me but I wish that it blended faster and easier and that it would set. Overall though, Estee Lauder has made a BB cream that stays truer to the Asian BB Cream formula than other Western BB formulas and might be worth a look if you're already a fan of BB creams.
