L'Oreal Voluminous Million Lashes

For the sake of transparency, I got one of these as a PR sample but I can't remember which one.

Here's another review I've been sitting on for ages. Claims about voluminous million lashes will peak my curiosity, L'Oreal, oh...curiosity is peeakked.

After the first day (Black tube - non-waterproof in Carbon Black, Blue tube - waterproof in Blackest Black) I was ready to chuck these into the euphemistic "natural lashes" pile. These thin little asian lashes need a mascara push up bra to be noticed. Them 'natural lash' looks just don't cut it *finger snaps*. BUT I know that some of my brethren have favored this mascara in the past so I gave it a few more goes to see how I could make it work.

Both non/waterproof formulas are very liquid in the tube and sufficiently black (though the blackest mascara award does got to Lancome Grandiose). Even after trying to dry them out, they still have a lot of fluidity which probably hinders the mascara's ability to build up the width of the lash. The brush separates each lash quite well and I get maybe an extra mm of length but it takes a little wait-and-building. Since I'm used to even more volume and even more length in some of my preferred mascara formulas, these are slightly underwhelming. I imagine it's like getting used to those super double size push ups from La Senza that wearing a lightly padded bra makes you wonder where all the rest of your boobies went. AmIright?

Does it smudge? Nope, neither do.
Does it hold a curl? Yes. The waterproof does a bit better though the non-waterproof is no slouch.

As far as the 'natural lash' look goes though, this is one of the better ones so far, if you aren't going for volume per lash. This will make for a good going to the groceries...walking the dog...drinking the coffee at the local coffee house mascara option and I can almost see myself consistently forgoing eyeliner (sacrilege!) for a quite weekend eye with these. So in finality, not a complete bust. There's a small gap that these mascaras fills but we'll see if during mascara buying time if that gap is really so severe.

Do you go for natural lashes? There must be some of you that do?

Oh my flipping lord, if I got these ridiculously cute bento boxes for lunch everyday, that would be amazing! (But look at how carb heavy they are...more veg, lady!)
