Comparison: Make Up For Ever Full Cover Concealer and Ultra HD Concealer*

*Press sample

I've been using the Make Up For Ever Full Cover Concealer since forever. It was the first concealer I've purchased; it has been with me since Day 1. The only natural thing to do when I tried the new Ultra HD Concealer* ($32CDN, 0.23oz) was to compare it to my old stand by.

NYX Cheek Contour Duo Palette in Double Dare*

NYX Cheek Contour Duo Palette in Double Dare

NYX decided to revamp their blush collection. I hate when brands do that! Usually something I love gets chucked. In reformulating their powder blushes into the new HD line, I worried about my go-to contour shade, Taupe? Then I "comme des fuck down" because it would take forever to finish the one I have and they had kept the shade in the new line. Still though, when I received the Cheek Contour Duo in Double Date* I wanted to know if I had been given a Taupe backup. Because, if so, SCORE!

PSA: How to Wear Colorful Eyeshadows (ft. Kat Von D Metal Crush Shadows*)

I was in high school. I had never used eyeshadow before. I chose blue to spend my money on.
No surprise, it never got used, but don't be like me! Use that color! I know it secretly makes you happy (while also causing heart palpitations from fear when you even think about using it).

All you closeted color lovers out, embrace that inner bright pigmented yearning and say "Dash it, all! I'm wearing ORANGE (insert other bright color here) today.....very sneakily in a corner of the eyes so no one but I will know the extent to which I can dare". Color can be scary and using highly pigmented, outrageously gorgeous and bright colors like the Kat Von D Metal Crush Shadows* ($25CDN, 0.10oz ) is even more frightening. But once you've swatched these babies, only an an-hedonist could resist.

Current Favorites #4

What drove me to post about my current favorites was the WetnWild Megaslick Gloss in That's My Jam*. This thing has crazy shine and though it looks deep purple in the tube, it stains into an amazingly flattering brightened Spring-ready plum-berry. Not what I expected at all and a real staple in my bag lately.

Favorites from Sephora Collection*

There are so many items and brands in Sephora that it's easy to forget an in-house option exists. Sometimes in-house options really aren't worth the savings. A few too many, less-than-clean bath tubs later, I realized I would rather go with the buff white-shirted man bottle than a drug store generic cleanser. But when a store's sole purpose is to sell makeup, they had better have at least more than a few things that really hit them mark.

Considering that, here are my favorite items from Sephora Collection that are on par or better than branded items on their shelves.

Those MAC Shadows (Favorite Eyeshadows from MAC)

Favorite MAC eyeshadows

Learning that MAC has dropped the prices for their shadow pans (From $12CDN to $8CDN) had me browsing the online aisles for the rest of the shadows I had always wanted. Half my mind was on the fact, that actually...MAC isn't my favorite and yet the brand has such a stronghold on what I think of as "good quality" that it is hard to remember that I reach for other options more often. In comparison to my MUFE shadows, MAC doesn't always compared and yet makeup is so synonymous with MAC that it's hard not to covet their items.

Letting Blush in the Door (ft. Wetnwild Coloricon Blush in Mellow Wine*)

Wet n Wild Coloricon Blush in Mellow Wine

Everytime I think I have enough blush, a new blush delivery shows up and I'm rocking back and forth on the floor trying to convince myself that I should/shouldn't keep it. I love WetnWild's Coloricon Blush in Pearlescent Pink and had the hugest battle over whether to keep Heathered Silk in my stash. Now, I'm battling with Mellow Wine*.

Quick Mentions

A few posts have been building up in my schedule and I wanted to do some quick mentions of the products featured here since they've been on my mind. I didn't want to devote whole posts to these but there were a few day-to-day thoughts I wanted to get out there. I hope you enjoy these quick little snippets.

Men are Simple Creatures (ft. Mary Kay True Original Hair and Body Wash*)

*Press sample

Men are simple creatures. Keep them well fed. Keep them loved. Give them a sports game. Boom. Happy

You know what also makes men (and people in general) happy? Warm showers. But if your man is anything like David, he's got places to be and things to do so increasing task efficiency is always welcomed. When I received the Mary Kay True Original Hair and Body Wash* ($20CDN, 192ml), I felt like I had solved all of David's first world washing problems.

Cheeks by WetnWild (ft. Megaglo Contouring and Illuminating Palettes*)

wet n wld Megaglo Contouring and Illuminating Palettes

I like the idea of using a range of products from one brand only. But I also like dabbling in many different things all at once and I don't ofte see how well partnered a brand's products are to each other. Being able to do a full cheek with two WetnWild products was a nice treat and I enjoyed comparing how the Megaglo Illuminating Palette (Catwalk Pink)* and Contouring Palette (Caramel Toffee)* complimented each other.

Nuxe Révé de Miel Ultra-Nourishing Lip Balm*

Nuxe Révé de Miel Lip Balm

The way that Nuxe Reve de Miel Ultra Nourishing Lip Balm* ($20CDN, 15g) has been discussed by bloggers increased my interest in this product. People have mentioned how thick it is, how you have to "break the top seal" for it to work, how its one of best lip balms out there (or not). I had a satisfied feeling when I dipped into that little pot and thought about how my experience would compare with everyone else's.

Turkey Neck Prevention (ft. Skinceuticals Serum 10*)

Turkey neck. Am I the only person afraid of this? I'm sure weight will have a contributing factor on how dangly my jowls will be with age but if I can help it, I'm going to make sure my skin is as firm and ageless as it can be. Using the amazingly well composed Skinceuticals Serum 10 AOX+ ($99CDN, $70USD, 30ml), from the brand's prevention line, is sure to help the cause.

Into the Garden with Mary Kay*

Once again, Mary Kay has curated the most adorable seasonal release and this Spring brings Into the Garden. Of all the brands of this sort, Mary Kay has consistently impressed me with their formulas, products and their theme concepts. They put so much more thought into it than compared to another popular peer marketing brand we all may know.
