As far as I can tell, Burberry's Earthy Blush* has been surprising every blogger I've read that has used it. It's been sold out on Sephora's website for a while (thanks VIB sales...) and though it might not look like much in the pan, once applied, you will understand why you need this. Add on some of Burberry's Highlighting Luminous Pen* and your cheeks might be ready for about anything.
The Burberry Light Glow - Natural Blush ($42CDN, 0.24oz) in Earthy is permanent so you'll likely find one soon enough. These blushes are supposed to be blendable, lightweight, and buildable. The Burberry Highlighting Luminous Pen* ($47CDN, 0.04oz) is a portable highlighting stick that can be used alone or over foundation. It is suppose to glide easily, blend easily and the shade is supposed to be universally flattering.
Earthy doesn't look like much in the pan but like Tarte's Exposed, it is so unexpected awesome in the ways that only subtle warm toned natural light beige-browns can be. I didn't expect any color to show up on my face when I saw the pan. But when used, I realized I had found the perfect no think blush for any cool toned look. Great for warm looks too, but I've struggled to find something natural for the cheeks when using cool eye shades.
Earthy does the perfect job of giving a bit of depth and a bit of color back into the face in the most natural and flattering of ways.
The blush, like all other Burberry powder products I've tried, has the most amazing texture. It is SO finely milled and buttery. Buttery blushes were a thing and Burberry is delivering them. But beware, this did kick up a little powder though when I dipped in my brush.
I also gave the Burberry Highlighting Luminous Pen for test run. Like I mentioned in the video, this seems to wear down quickly. A few swipes and I've lost about a half a cm of product. I don't feel like this happens with Benefit's Watt's Up. The texture glides very well when applied. It left a slightly tacky feel on my cheeks which does dry down but I found it hard to blend out the edges.
The box comes with a nice 'how-to' sheet to maximize all your highlighting potential but the shade itself is very light. This is NOT a light beam type highlight. Instead the pigment is very very light in tone; almost near to skin shade. Even for me, who isn't looking to signal space with my highlighter, found that I want just a little bit more. The best place for this has been to outline my eyebrows. I don't like super peaked eye brows so this subtle shade works well.
All in all, I'm loving the Earthy Blush and though I enjoy the portability of the Luminous Pen, the shade could do with a bit of amping up. When used together though, you get a very natural and flattering look.
