Dior 5 Couleurs Designer Palettes

Dior is releasing a whole new set of eye products, the Diorshow 5 Couleurs Designer Palettes* ($63CDN). There are 6 color options and they will be available starting in June. These palettes contain 5 long-wear expert textures which are meant to be sheer and layered. Each palette includes a primer shade, satin shadows, a shimmery highlighter and a liner.

Packaged in a velvet pouch, an instruction booklet will help you achieve the look and a QR code and link card directs you to a video tutorial. Each palette also contains two double ended brushes.

To use these palettes:
1) Even out the color of your lid with the powder Primer color. This is always the lower left hand shade which is more or less, various shades of light/whitened color.
2) Use the central shade as the main lid color.
3) Contrast/sculpt the shadows in the crease areas with the top left color.
4) Use the top right highlighter shade to illuminate the eye.
5) Finish off with the gel liner.

So far, each palette lives up to their sheer finish claim. They aren't invisible on the lid, just sheer. The shades are layerable and the set of palettes generally have the same quality across the board but I do have a few initial favorites. The shadows aren't the most buttery and can be kicked up a little when I try to deposit them on my brush. Patting the color on works best though the shades blend.

The Illuminator shade is really just a sheer wash of sparkle, I would almost say, glitter. Some may may not like this. I've used it as a highlighter but it works better as a layer of glitter over the shadows to glam up the colors for night.  The glitter is quite visible in person and in some color combos can contrasts too much with how sheer the shades are if not built up.

Full swatches and looks to come.
