clarins hydraquench cream review

Has the winter really descended on us already? Are we in a Polar Vortex yet? Lay aside fairytale visions of glistening snow in romantic windswept wintery scenes and clue into the realities of awful commute times, masking as a jeong (gluttinous rice dumpling) with your parka and tackling your drying skin. I've been saving the Clarins HydraQuench Cream specifically for this weather.

The results from bracing the wind and tackling that chill face first can only be remedied by some good skincare and the HydraQuench for Normal to Dry Skin ($50CDN, 50ml) has so far been keeping my skin soft and moisturized. The cream is thick but smooths on without feeling heavy and ends off with a light matte finish. The Katafray bark extract is supposed to stimulate hydration and improve skin barrier function.

Though so far a pleasure to use, there is an obvious floral scent which I could do without and will turn some consumers away. Even though stated for dry skin, this might not cut it for super dry skin individuals. It doesn't quite give the heft that I've experienced with some other creams but for me this has been doing the trick for my dry, but not peeling, face. Not a bad comfort item to have, to soothe your dashed dreams of winter paradises as you muck your way through the winter months.
