Saving My Brother: Moisturizing without Moisturizer

My brother, Arthur, has a special kind of lazy. The skin on his face might be bone dry, using anything like cream might cause stinging, and he would really rather it all just be better but...he won't moisturize. "I just don't like the way it feels!" With his logic, the feeling of lotion on his face, is worse, than knowing the top layers are mimicking the topography of the Atacama Desert. 

Red Lips and Whiskey

 

Though I love eyeshadow, a red lip makes me feel a million times more sexy. Even a smokey eye can’t compete with the instant sex appeal of a red lipstick. Now, when I wear Make Up For Ever’s M401* (Hot Red by Icona Pop, $27CDN, 0.12oz) and add on a spicy fragrance like Commodity's Whiskey ($120CDN, 100ml), the I have admit that I feel pretty good.

If David Wore Cologne...

I had hoped that the Mr Burberry Eau de Toilette* ($100CDN, 3.3oz) would be wearable for a female but nope. Such a shame since the bottle is beautiful and the grey tones look so polished on my dresser. Its doubly unfortunate that David isn't a fan of fragrances because this is one I'd love for him to wear.

Men are simple creatures. Keep them well fed. Keep them loved. Give them a sports game. Boom. Happy. 

You know what also makes men (and people in general) happy? Warm showers. But if your man is anything like David, he's got places to be and things to do so increasing task efficiency is always welcomed. When I received the Mary Kay True Original Hair and Body Wash* ($20CDN, 192ml), I felt like I had solved all of David's first world washing problems.

Smelling like a Man Redux

Gym rats know that there's nothing quite like the scent that comes after an intense workout. The not-so-faint aroma of a hard days work mixed in with the sweat from weight lifting, added onto the diffusion of everyone else's gym smells is...something. It smells like achievement! It smells like glory! It smells like...you really need a shower.

Featuring men's products on my blog is only fun because of the things David says about them. For someone who has gone through years of education, is considered to be quite bright, and can go on and on (and on and on and on) about one topic or another, David has very little to say about skincare. I forced-fed him the latest from Dove, just for my own entertainment. Here's how our conversation went.

Getting David to take care of his skin is an uphill battle. Quite satisfied to scrub his face with bar soap if he remembers, "special stuff" isn't quite up his alley but I try and force it upon him anyways. I'm constantly trying to figure out what kinds of items he will actually use and thought the Clarins 2-in-1 Cleanser* and the Antipersirant Stick* had a fighting chance. If he's not going to take care of his skin at least I can do it for him.  My tactics are now on par with an adult trying to 'hide' vegetables in their child's food.
