Clarins Instant Light Radiance Boosting Complexion Base (02 Champagne) swatch review

Very rarely have I rounded up "favorites" or really stated that I've been consistently loving something. Daily, I flip between so many products that having "weekly favorites" or even "monthly favorites" isn't quite possible. But lately, I've seriously been enjoying the Clarins Instant Light Radiance Boosting Complexion Base.

This fluid base ($37CDN for 30ml) is advertised to boost skin's radiance while hydrating. Pigments enhance radiance, brighten shadowy areas and reduce redness. It can be worn alone or under foundation and offers sheer coverage. Coming from their Spring Opalescence line, this base offers a transparent corrector to even out your skin tone while incorporating ingredients which protect against pollution. It's tagline is that it "illuminates and corrects".

The color 02 Champagne is the yellow toned version of their three offerings and suited to fairer skin.  Since I've received this, I've really stuck to it. This, with some concealer and the Maybelline Dream Matte Powder has been my winning trifecta (and this routine has kept me matte for hours)! The base is practically my skin tone when smoothed on. It is incredibly light on the skin and I haven't felt the need to quickly wash it off after a long day. Some foundations/face products just seem to sit more heavily on the face as the day progresses, this does not.

Though it sheers out considerably, it somehow still evens my skin tone and reduces the redness on my cheeks (keep in mind, that it reduces but does not eliminate). In the same way that I love my MAC Careblend Pressed Powder, I love this for its lightness,  its ease of use, and the natural look it gives me. I don't feel the need to wear this under foundation since I have more medium foundations that would do  just fine without a base.

My skin does look more 'fresh' because of this, just slightly more put together and even. I think its a testament to how much I enjoyed this,  that I was willing to go and stock up when I thought it was limited edition (it is not). If you're looking for something light to use on a regular day I recommend this. This gives a wonderful natural, fresh faced look that isn't done up or cakey.

What's your go to "natural/fresh faced" face product? What have you been loving lately?

Daily Zen: Holy crap! Look at these secret rooms. I can't decide which I like best but the slide to another room and the bookshelf "walls" are pretty awesome. I wish I had something like that in my house.
