Happy Chinese New Year!!!
If you aren't celebrating, or if you are, I hope you're having a great start to your February. Any holiday occasion is wonderful and CNY is made even better with all the Chinese food and desserts. This year, I wanted to create a sophisticated look to go with all the red and gold decorations and there isn't anything better than pairing that idea with luxurious brand, Charlotte Tilbury, to really ring in the occasion.
Reds and golds seems to be the colors of choice for most winter holiday occasions but its also the main colors of Chinese celebrations. Huge panels of red with gold calligraphy line store windows and people dress in these colors as well. I would love to be in Asia during this time.
For my look I used the Charlotte Tilbury Dolce Vita Luxury Palette* and the KISSING Tree Lipstick in Night Crimson*.
Luxury Palettes ($64, 5.2g) are supposed create iconic, mesmerising eyes with four harmonious colours that offer a complete “desk to disco” eye colour wardrobe and an easy to use application ritual that is fail-safe to follow. There is always a prime, enhance, pop and smoke shade.
This palette really performed amazingly through the day on unprimed lids. The glitter (truly a glitter and not a shimmer) Pop shade did not produce fall out and was really stunning. These applied and blended beautifully. Everyone has told me these were amazing but brush-in-pan, these did not have the immediate butter feel of the Burberry Singles. However, the performed superbly and is a great high quality shadow.
KISSING Lipsticks ($45, 3.5g) have an anti-oxidant ingredient which protects against UV rays and leaves lips moisturized. There are also light-diffusing pigments for full-bodied, ultra-brilliant lip and a special wax blend which ensures perfect glide and lip contouring.
Indeed this lipstick glided on quite smoothly and the color was opaque without being heavy. The color is dark so it leaves a slight stain.
This is the year of the Monkey. Not intuitively, if you were born in this lunar year or every 12 years prior, its an unlucky time for you. According to this, Monkeys are "witty, intelligent, and have a magnetic personality. Monkeys are fast learners and crafty opportunists.People born in a year of the Monkey often spend more time at work. Therefore Monkeys need to remember to take breaks to save their energy during their busy schedules. Since Monkeys usually do more outdoor activities, they should pay attention to safety, and while traveling or driving. and apparently Monkeys pair well with Oxes and Rabbits (which is me!)"
Regardless of what zodiac sign you are, I wish you a happy chinese new year and all the best luck!
