Missing socks are one of the major crises of our times, up there with food insecurity and oil dependence. Describe a wicked social problem and I can counter your example with the improbable situation where putting two things into a closed drying vessel only yields one of them back out again. Conservation of mass somehow does not apply to laundry. In order to keep both my feet in a state of warmth and modesty, I've started mixing up single socks in the hopes that they will work together in lieu of their missing partners.
I've also started employing the same tactic to my skincare products. There always seems to be an important component missing in my products. Just that one thing that will propel an item into awesome. With the amazing range of products available, there still isn't just one thing I can use to cover all my issues. One aspect I love about Dermalogica is the ability to mix their boosters into any of my other skincare products to give them that extra oomph.
I've been focused on boosting hydration and using the Dermalogica Skin Hydration Booster* (30ml, $81) has been great. This contains Hyaluronic Acid, Panthenol, Glycolipids and nutrient-rich Algae Extract to help hydrating and smooth skin. It helps minimizes dryness lines while improving skin suppleness.
Like the Viva Skincare Hyaluronic Acid Serum, a little goes a very long way. The two products end up being the same cost so the price tag of Dermalogica's doesn't seem that outrageous in context. I've had some awful dry flakes on my nose and this has smoothed them down really quickly. It also helped with some weird eczema-esque patches on my shoulder and neck. Unlike the Viva serum, it doesn't plump my skin but it delivers the same degree of hydration and the thin fluidity makes this perfect for mixing into other skincare.
Dermalogica also has some other boosters which add SPF into your skincare, reduce redness for sensitive skin and help add some exfoliating properties as well. I love that these are made to be mixed in (or just used on their own) and will be exploring more of them soon.
Do you have things you always mix into your skincare?
Daily Zen: I know a few of you have been experimenting with minimalistic living, but do you think you could ever live in a 'tiny house'? I like the idea that such ventures forces someone to redefine what 'success' is and to use more of the outside world as their actual life.
