Story of my blogging life but I've been sitting on this post's photos for a long time. Half the reason for the delay was because of the general specificity I like to put into my foundation reviews, a specificity which takes time and brain power. So if you will allow me, instead, maybe just this once, to do a less organized but still somewhat thoroughly job, here is the Estee Lauder Perfectionist Youth-Infusing Makeup SPF 25* ($50CDN, 30ml).
This foundation contains the Perfectionist Serum in an oil-free hydrating formula. Formulated to instantly brighten, it is also supposed to give radiance, reduce the look of lines and moisturize. There is an amazing variety of shades to choose from. I received 2N1 Desert Beige which was too pink. 2W1 Dawn had the right yellow tone but was too dark, 2W2 Rattan was darker still. The perfect color match for me seems to be 1W2 which suits my winterized warm light-medium skintone.
The coverage is light medium but buildable though not to full coverage. This feels weightless and it perfectly evens out my fairly good skin. I don't have any major acne scars but some redness over top of my cheek bones. In general I do not need high or even medium coverage foundation.
As always I buff this in with my RT Expert Face Brush. One pump gives me a little too much product and some extra buffing is needed to place this onto the skin. The consistency, again, is light and its one of my favorite aspects about this product. It wears well throughout the day. I don't get oily from it (but we'll wait until the spring and summer to see if that changes) and it sets, which seems like small thing but its not. When patting my face with a tissue, there is no transfer, though sometimes I do still like to set lightly with powder.
There aren't many downsides to this foundation. It does cling to dry patches and yes you do need to buff it in. Over some sunscreens, it does slip around but in general I'm really pleased with it and super pleased to have found a color match. I like that it has SPF25, that it feels and looks like skin and with its non-oil producing properties this has been the perfect winter foundation. I also like to think that the Perfectionist Serum is giving me some added skincare benefits as well though I still use a full skincare routine anyways.
Have you tried this or any other serum foundations yet?
