Stila Magnificent Metals Foil Finish Eye Shadow Metallic Dusty Rose swatch review

Look, if you aren't going to go glitter for a bachelorette then I don't know when you're going to do it. Add to this my desire for increasing the number of glitter unicorns in the world and you find me reaching for the Stila's Magnificent Metals Foil Finish Eye Shadow in Metallic Dusty Rose to attend a good friend's last hurrah as a single women.

I wanted to be the most glittery of attendees at the party. Mere shimmer was NOT going to cut it. I wanted chunky glitter and chunky glitter I got! Honestly, I didn't understand the fear of glitter particles lodging themselves into your tear ducts (as most of my commentors seemed to have) until I wore this product.

This product ($42 CDN) is a flaky cream shadow with a high metallic, glittery, and buildable foil finish. It comes with a mini bottle of the Stila Stay All Day Liquid Eye Primer and a mixing tray.

Application was a bit of a pain and there was a mess everywhere. The product comes in patted down flakes and dry application was not an option. It does not smooth out easily, bunches up and goes on patchy. Mixing it with a drop of primer on the back of my hand before patting it on with a finger produced slightly more manageable result but patchiness remained. Build this up with caution since those particles aren't always going to listen to what your brush or finger says.

If you want big glitter particles that are not densely clustered then this is the product. Subtle this is not, so it really is a party all up on your eyelids and more than a few compliments were paid. This look would be great for drama and super fun parties. I would be recommended if it weren't for the difficult application.

Surprisingly, no fall out and I got 10hr wear (!) BUT I really felt each. particle. on. my. lids. Considering the number of eye lid infections I've had, nervousness about next day eye-hangovers was at an all time high. I'm glad to report that a cleansing balm got all the product off when I returned to the abode and that the lids were doing A-OK the next day.

I think this product is worth mentioning but I hesitate to recommend it carte blanche. This gives....a very specific look that you will either love or hate and it won't have a place in most people's homes. I honestly did enjoy the look but it didn't seem quite polished enough and the price point makes this an expensive experiment. I haven't tried glitter pigment before but there are enough cheap options out there to play around with before you go in for this.

When would you wear this?
