Guest Post: Spring Pastels with Hello Kitty

Hi everyone, it's Jen from Vibrant, Vivacious, Veracious Beauty Blog! So excited to be posting on A Beautiful Zen today. Today's post is all about celebrating Spring with some pretty pastels. When it comes to eye shadow, I'm typically a neutral fanatic. Bronzes, golds, taupes, champagnes- sign me up! But there's something about emerging from this particularly nasty Winter that has been motivating me to ditch the nudes and delve into some cheery colour!

Enter the Hello Kitty Mon Amour Eyeshadow and Blush Palette. I was lucky enough to snag this cute little gem from Winners a couple months ago and was eager to finally give it a go!

The Mon Amour palette is a wonderful marriage of Parisian flavour, sweet treats, and- of course- Hello Kitty. What's not to love? It features 8 eye shadows and 2 blushes, housed in adorably decorated, ultra-girly packaging. The shades are named after Parisian delicacies and landmarks and the shades are equally as romantic and dreamy. The palette itself folds open to reveal a huge-sized mirror and even more cuteness to behold:

I mean, seriously, how precious is this?
Now onto the makeup look that I created with the palette!

For the eye look (the most exciting part!), I applied Lemon Meringue (a cheery yellow) and Pistachio (a mint green) mixed on the inner corners of the eye to add some brightness. I next swept some of Jardin (a sky blue pastel turquoise) on the centre of the lid for a fun pop of colour. To contrast the turquoise, I added some of Passion Fruit Macaroon (a warm orchid) on the outer corners of the eye and to add dimension, I applied Fleur de Lys (a deep grape) and Eiffel Tower (a charcoal grey with gold shimmer) mixed in the crease. I finished things off with touches of Croissant (a warm ivory) as a highlight underneath the brow bones and near the tear ducts of the eye.

To complement the eyes, I popped some of Strawberry Macaroon blush (a warm, peachy pink) heavily on the apples of the cheeks, blending upwards, and a light dusting of Croissant on the tops of my cheekbones as a highlighter. Gave a nice glow! To complete the entire look, I applied Chanel Levres Scintillantes Glossimer in Zephyr to my lips for a shiny, nude pout.

Here are some shots of the final look!

So there you have it! My take on the Spring pastels trend using one of the cutest palettes I've ever come across. I had lots of fun playing with these cheery shades! Really helped me to accept that we've finally shed Winter and are welcoming warmer, sunnier times.

Thanks again to Jenn for letting me stop by! If you'd like to check out more of my recent posts on Vibrant Beauty Blog, you can check me out on Bloglovin'Facebook and Twitter. Would love to hear from you!

-Jen
